Prenatal and Post-Partum Physiotherapy

Supporting a healthy and fit pregnancy

What is prenatal physiotherapy?

As your baby grows, your posture, breathing pattern, and core muscles adapt and change in response to pregnancy.

During pregnancy, pelvic health physiotherapy focuses on maintaining a strong core and preparing your pelvic floor for delivery.

First Visit

Your first visit includes a full history and assessment of the following:

  • posture
  • breathing pattern
  • pelvic and hip mobility
  • abdominal and pelvic floor muscle strength and function

Follow-Up Visits

Subsequent visits will be booked as needed to continue to work on maintaining a strong core and to prepare your pelvic floor and pelvis for delivery.

What is postpartum physiotherapy?

After delivery, a pelvic health physiotherapist supports you in recovering a strong core and pelvic floor. Postpartum physiotherapy is both for mom and for baby.

First Visit

It's best to assess the impact of pregnancy and delivery on your core and pelvic floor 6 weeks postpartum

Follow-Up Visits

Subsequent visits will be booked as needed for abdominal and pelvic floor muscle strengthening. Visits can also address:

  • leaking
  • painful intercourse
  • diastasis recti
  • scar healing
  • back pain
  • constipation
  • flatulence
  • trouble holding urine
